Formerly referred to as "The Last Rites", any seriously ill
person should receive the Sacrament for the Sick while the person
is still conscious and able to participate in the prayers
with his/her family.
If the sick person is in a hospital:
Please
ask the nurse to call the Catholic chaplain of
the hospital. The local chaplain is much closer and can get
to the hospital more quickly than your local parish priest.
If you cannot reach the Catholic chaplain of the
hospital, then immediately call St. Louis the King at
623-930-1127 and we will contact the chaplain or one of
the priests from St. Louis the King will go to the hospital.
If the sick person is at home within the parish or at a rest home within the parish:
If
a person is sick at home within the parish boundaries (or in
the home of a registered parishioner even if they are not within
the parish boundaries) or at a rest home within the parish,
please call the parish at 602-930-1127 at any time of the day or
night.
Please do not wait. If a person is sick and should receive this sacrament call a priest BEFORE it becomes an emergency.
Dear
Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in
this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the troubled, alleviate
our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and
strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in
your hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that
you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the
grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you
do for the love of us. Amen.
